I was very impressed by the amount and the quality of the research work carried out during the two years of the Cedar Project. The results in the two main tracks, design of an efficient semantic web reasoner and large scale and distributed RDF data (big + linked data = blinked data) are very important and original, with operational tools that were designed.
Moreover, this research work should be recognized in a better way at the international level. It should be presented in the best conferences on semantic web and artificial intelligence (but probably other fields are related and interested, I am thinking of machine learning, knowledge discovery and formal concept analysis and lattice theory). Anyway, I hope that the researchers of the Cedar Project will find the right way of presenting their results to the semantic web community.
Moreover, it should also be noticed that the research work around the Cedar Project is very well documented in a series of technical reports which are very complete and very well written, providing a lot of useful information.
Finally, I was very happy to be invited at this evaluation meeting and I would like to warmly thank both Hassan Aït-Kaci and Mohand-Saïd Hacid for this invitation. Cedar is a research project of very high quality for a rather short (if not very short) period of time. I hope that this project will be supported and continued: research projects of such a value are rare and should be recognized at their true level and encouraged. Thus I strongly support the continuation of Cedar and I hope that the leader of Cedar will find a way of continuing this line of very high-level research.
